Sad yet Rejoicing

Today was a bitter sweet day at Casa de Fe. Today on Palm Sunday one of our sweet babies went to be with Jesus. His was Logan and he was about 20 months old. Here is what Patti Sue our director wrote about Logan in her last newsletter

Remembering

Changes

Recently I have been reflecting on my year down here. On each of my students and the distance that we have come from September. I remember thinking that first week in school that I was not cut out for this job. The kids were all on different levels and on different levels in different subjects. Another challenge was creating a classroom management a daunting task with the amount of behavior issues and lack of structure at the beginning of the year.

An overdue update =]

So much has been happening out at Casa de Fe. In the past three months there have been many changes and things have been busy. In mid November we finally made the move from the old house out to the new house on the property outside of town. The time leading up to the move for me was filled with teaching, helping pack things up after school, moving things to the new house and setting up my new classroom. It was a lot of work and in planning for it I know I thought it could not happen in a week but God has a way providing for our needs.

Legacies

Have you ever stopped to think about your legacy? Do you have a legacy? What kind of legacy you are going to leave behind for the next generations to hear about? If your legacy will even impact a life? What will be remembered? Who will remember it?
Will it be that you put in many hours at your job and sold somethings but had no time for family or people? Will it be your temper or generosity? What is it that will stand out in your life, what will you be remembered for?

Struggles

I don't think I really gave a lot of thought to the different things that would be struggles, I also don't think I could have predicted all the things that would be struggles. The language I knew would be an obvious struggle but throwing other ones in the mix threw me off a bit, functioning in a classroom that is not very conducive to learning and teaching (but way better than the kids not being in school), attitudes & moods (mine and the kids and other peoples), not knowing which direction to go after a step is taken.

First Weeks of School

Well the weekend before school started my roommate Shari finally arrived safely in Shell. Shari is a teacher at Nate Saint Memorial School and we share the apartment above the school. I am so blessed to have her as my roommate and thanking God that she is still able to serve this year after the accident she and her parents were in before she was originally supposed to come. God was present throughout everything and giving miracles.

Lo Siento mi Amigos.

I am so sorry that I am so behind in blog writing. Some of that is due to the internet being down and the other is I am busy and when I might have time in the evening I am usually tired and mostly brain dead.
My most recent blog is from my first weekend in Shell and my first week working through all our inservice training.
I am playing catch as quickly as I can but lots of different things are happening and the list of things I want to share is ever growing. I ask for patience in this in advance. =] My next post will probably be on the first 2 weeks of school.

Getting Settled

Saturday was a work day out at the property which was exciting because I hadn’t seen the property since late February. When I woke up that morning it was a cool crisp morning. When I opened my curtains that face the main road I saw a clear snow capped Sangay. It was a breath taking sight and I was in awe of the beauty of it. When I got to the property I saw that Altar was also just as visible. It was a beautiful day. We started out with a tour of the Multi Use Building down and upstairs. Alison, Dallas and I picked out our classrooms, which was very exciting.
